Lekki Pearl Update – Construction Begins with Ground-breaking Ceremony
1. Construction Begins with Ground-Breaking Ceremony
It was the beginning of another phase early March, as the Ground-Breaking ceremony to mark the commencement of work on the Lekki Pearl Estate building was performed to the excitement of all. The ground-breaking, which was performed by Engr. Femi Akintunde, Managing Director/CEO, Alpha Mead Facilities & Management Services Ltd (our parent company), has since been followed up with the immediate commencement of the ground beam works, which are now at a very advanced stage.
The ground slab is at 100% completion stage and the piping for the mechanical and electrical works are at 90% completion stage for one block of housing unit. Foundation works have also commenced on another block of housing unit with the ground beam reinforcements at 90% completion stage in preparation for the concrete pour for the slab.
As highlighted in our last newsletter, access road to the site is now motorable and is now accessible to all current and intending subscribers. Although works are still ongoing and various degrees of load test are also still being carried out in conformity with our quality standards, the current state of the road is worth mentioning as it is now hitting over 80% completion, with a plan to deliver by middle of Q2, 2015. The backfilling on both sides of the drain has been done and the second course stabilization process would commence within the next four weeks as the sub base has achieved the maximum load bearing strength.
However, due to the 2015 general elections as well as the Easter Holidays, work slowed down on site for security reasons as well as safety of our construction personnel. The recent fuel scarcity also contributed to the down time lost. Work has however resumed and is progressing at a steady stage.
